Speaker(s):UChicago Prof. James Evans
Join Duke's Society-Centered AI Initiative (SCAI) for the inaugural "Big Think" - a dynamic, high-impact event designed to tackle provocative and socially relevant questions about artificial intelligence. These sessions aim to spark interdisciplinary collaboration and generate actionable research ideas around AI topics that lack clear answers.
This first Big Think features Professor James Evans from the University of Chicago, who will explore the question: Can AI improve interdisciplinary research? Professor Evans is a leading academic voice in computational social science, serving as Professor of Sociology, Director of Knowledge Lab, and Faculty Director of Computational Social Science at UChicago. His work leverages large-scale data, machine learning, and generative models to understand how collectives think and what they know.
