Research with Purpose
SCAI supports faculty-led research that bridges the social sciences, humanities, and technical disciplines to address pressing questions about AI’s role in society and vice versa. Affiliated faculty's projects examine topics such as:
- Ethical and equitable AI development
- Social impacts of generative technologies
- Human-AI teaming and trust
- Policy and governance frameworks for emerging technologies

Building Community
SCAI is more than a research initiative—it’s a growing community. We intentionally cultivate spaces for connection and collaboration among:
- Faculty Affiliates: Through regular events, workshops, and shared projects, we support interdisciplinary dialogue and research partnerships.
- Student Researchers: From undergraduate hackathons to graduate seminars and certificate programs, we provide pathways for students to engage deeply with society-centered AI.
